In Grazia Germany

The outfit we have on our hands here keeps popping up, months after the actual Paris Fashion Week I wore it to. This time it's filling a page in German Grazia. I've been Tweeted, e-mailed and Facebooked about it feature by a lot of girls, I had no idea I had so many sweet German readers... Liebe dich! ;)

Big Amsterdam hotspots post and feature in Flair!

A while ago I got approached by Belgian Flair magazine to share my favorite, mostly affordable, new hotspots in Amsterdam. Off we went, me and a photographer, to capture those Amsterdam gems and this is the result! It's a mix of fashion, interior and lifestyle stores. The feature is in Dutch, but here I've listed my hotspots with a short English description. (There are many more hotspots - my city has so much to offer! - these are the ones featured in Flair)

Amsterdam hotspots 

Rika 

With effortless Scandinavian style at it's best, Rika sells leather biker jackets, mohair jumpers, printed pants and perfect basic tees and party dresses. Even just looking through the window I can feel my credit card melting a bit.

Options 

This concept store is stacked with goodies, big and small, like golden notebooks, funny magnets, interior design and clothing. Everyting in little design warehouse is carefully selected with a great sense of style and uniqueness. Fun fact: it's located in the new, trendy Exchange hotel.

Eye

Just opened and a welcome addition to the city: Eye. In a spectacular, abstract building located next to the IJ-waters, you'll find a cultural meeting point where a cinema, work spaces, a film museum and cozy restaurant come together brilliantly.

Hout & Nieuw 

Old, characteristic wooden furniture is hot - as we're all well aware. Same goes for the founder of this shop, who recently opened the first 'real life' store after running a successful online shop. You'll find industrial lamps, pretty old wooden tables and other furniture with a special story behind it.

Taschen 

After Paris, Berlin, Copenhagen, Londen and New York, the pleasure is ours. Super glamorous publisher Taschen recently opened it's doors to a fab flagship store, packed with extraordinary books about art, fashion, photography, music and more. Legendary Philippe Starck did the interior design, so reading a book (or just browsing pictures) is done in style.

REM eiland

Amsterdam is off to REM-eiland en masse and it's for a reason. This is where you'll eat and drink on a former flight deck while spectacularly overlooking the Amsterdam IJ waters. It doesn't get any more exciting, location wise. And with affordable menus, good service and a industrial feel REM is rightfully listed as a new hotspot.

Labels

Labels is a cozy boutique in one of the finest streets Amsterdam has to offer: the Utrechtsestraat. Each brand stocks just a few items so that adds up to a great mix of pretty jackets, dresses, jeans and tops. Go here for mostly European brands with a decent price tag such as Gestuz, Cheap Monday, Minimum and Mina UK.

Lights, camera, action!

This morning, after about three hours of sleep, I taped another segment for RTL Boulevard that will be aired tonight at 18.30! 

It's a big daily news show, the same one I had my TV debut on two weeks ago (as you could see here). And I'm back today as 'fashion expert' and I just wanted to give you a quick impression so excuse this crappy iPhone pic :P I thought I might be a little nervous since it was my second time but I actually just love the rush you get of being in front of the camera and not exactly knowing how it will turn out. And... action!

This chick's got style interviewed

Finding a magazine on your doorstep can be a real joy and noticing you're actually in it, really makes things exciting. So I wanted to do a quick post on three big interviews/features of This chick's got style in magazines that came out this month. Two of them are one page interviews, in Fashionista and Flaire and a huge picture of me in 'styling action' in Nelly magazine. Thanks to the editors that featured me! :)

For those of you that were waiting or hoping for an outfit with my new shoes (so was I :P) I'll get on that right away. Everything is coming together - work, deadlines, meetings, personal events and traveling - and I could hardly oversee posting these past two days.

Featured in Gisele Japan

I was featured in a one page spread in Gisele magazine and the issue just landed at my doorstep. Gisele is a Japanese fashion magazine that I don't understand a single word of but that nonetheless looks very appealing. Just seeing this makes me want to go to Japan even more and I'm sure I will someday. Thanks Gisele magazine for sending over a copy! 

I won the ELLE.nl Award!

Back in July, I was told I made it on the shortlist for an ELLE.nl Award. With Twitter.com/yaragotstyle I was nominated for Fashion Twitter - in Dutch: Mode Twitteraar - of the year. Up until that moment I didn’t even know one of my readers had put me up me for this category, so it was a great surprise.

A month of Facebook voting followed, and I can now proudly call myself this year’s winner of the ELLE.nl Award for Mode Twitteraar! It’s the first time ELLE hands out 5 awards to fashion websites (my friend Andy won for Fashion Blog) so that made it even more exciting.

Yay, I finally get to share the May issue of Dutch ELLE with you! Me and my boyfriend Friso are featured with a one page interview, in which we talk about about my blog, him being the blog's photographer and how that works. I something like this in Grazia before, but this time it's about my boyfriend. So much fun!

Next to that, this particular issue is close to my heart because I wrote my first 5 page interview for it! It's one of my all time favorite sections in ELLE, where you get a peek inside the home of someone in the fashion industry and discuss their style and interior and get to know their personality. I'm incredibly proud to see my name printed as the interviewer in a magazine I started reading as a little girl and that is one of the leading titles in the world. A great way to start the weekend!

WhoWhatWear

When learned I was featured in the WhoWhatWear Style Stalker section, the fresh little scratch on my new Acne boots didn't matter (as much). You might not know this, but WhoWhatWear was one of my biggest inspirations to start blogging. Working for them is one of my dream jobs and this way I'm already part of the company in a small way ;)

Featured on Stockholm Streetstyle

I met Caroline and Daniel from Stockholm Streetstyle at Paris Fashion Week. They took some pictures of me and this one from outside the Sonia Rykiel show is now on their website, kind of cool! I think it's gorgeous, so Daniel can you please become my personal blog photographer ;)?

Featuring

A few weeks ago I was featured in the fashion panel for Grazia magazine and now I'm in the new issue as well, so I thought I'd show you both. This week it's all about Sarah Jessica Parker's looks, which was fun to judge as she - and her alter ego Carrie - always get it right. Speaking of which, did you watch SATC 2 yet? And tell me, which SATC-girl are you: a Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte or Samantha? :P

New girls on the blog

Remember about two months ago, when I told you I had a photo shoot and interview for the dutch Grazia? Well... it's in stores right NOW! Reasons for you to buy it? It's twice as big as usual, it's the beauty issue and I'm in it! And so are fab bloggers Andy and Rachel! It's pretty strange - yet exciting - to see yourself in a giant picture (it covers a full page!) with your hair & make up done, posing in your room and knowing thousands of people will see it. I really hope you like it!
